Google Pixel C Could Launch This Week

By

Reports indicate that Google's latest slate, the Pixel C, will be available for pre-order starting on December 8, around 2 months after the Nexus 5X and 6P were released.

9to5Google reports that beyond a quick Twitter mention and the fact that the holiday season is coming, and all tech companies are pushing to release during that time, Google has not given any additional information on the launch of the Productivity-focused hybrid gadget. However, the launch rumour is gaining traction, as the device has been spotted on a GFXBench and Geekbench benchmark

The Google Pixel C is an Android tablet with a keypad that doubles as a tablet cover as well. According to Tech Radar, the hybrid gadget is positioned to compete with the likes of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and the iPad Pro, as well as some indirectly mainstream tablets such as the iPad Air 2.

The Pixel C looks more like a Chromebook than a tablet, but the device runs on Android instead of Chrome OS. According to Slash Gear, the hybrid runs on NVIDIA's latest Tegra X1, which is expected to be a monster in terms of processing performance. The Pixel C is expected to release with the latest update of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Other specs of the upcoming Google product includes a 10.2-inch screen with 2560x1800 pixel resolution and 308 psi screen density. The screen will also have a 500 nits brightness level and sRGB color Gamut.

The RAM will be 3GB and internal storage will be 32 GB or 64 GB, depending on the model paid for, which is lower than the 512GB the Surface Pro 3 provides. Charging of the device will be through a USB Type C port, and the device comes with an optional bluetooth wireless keyboard.

Moreover, the keyboard attaches to the screen via magnets rather than a docking port. The keyboard also charges through the tablet via induction.
