Three new metal songs are to be added to Rock Band 4 which includes The Coma Machine by Between Buried and Me, Heir Apparent by Opeth, and Nevermore by Symphony X. these songs, according to Gamespot, are themselves challenging enough. But what would make it more challenging is the game's new Brutal mode which came this week through Rock Band 4's big December update.

Brutal Mode, as reviewed by Kotaku, is for advanced players "who hate having fun, or at least have a warped sense of it." The mode features a Cariable Breakneck Speed which allows players to modify a song's velocity up to 2.5 times. There will also be a new activity feed which players can use to taunt friends with scores. The site further reveals that Harmonix is on the work on improving the game's microphone lag.

Aside from the new metal songs and the Brutal mode, the game also included numerous features in their big December update which was listed in Harmonix' official website. The list includes updates in the score challenge features, improved calibration, full combo recognition and indicator, more song result details, player stats, new items in the Rock Shop, and an auto-kick mode. Furthermore, the developers has also included several bug fixes such as packs and albums in the XB1 in-game store, fixes which prevent hitches for PS4 players with 2,000 friends, leaderboard fixes, fixes on crashes, correction on Band History stats, improvements on tambourine hit sensitivity, and adjustments to track transparency.
