The Xiaomi Mi 5 has been all over the wire for quite some time and now, this handset is expected to be announced January next year. The upcoming device from the Chinese tech giant is believed to have a near bezel-less display and a physical home button.
According to Android Headlines, the Mi 5 has popped up online several times in the last few days, and one of those leaks actually showed that the device has a physical home button below the display or some sort of a touchpad. At first, it is quite doubtful to be the Xiaomi MI 5, but there are a few leaks showing a fingerprint scanner hinting that it is indeed the rumored handset.
Based on the leaked images, the upcoming handset by Xiaomi is not exactly groundbreaking. It is worth noting that the Chinese tech company is giving up their three capacitive button layout in this device.
A notable change seen also from the leaks is how thin the bezels are, though many are hoping that there won't be any black bars present around the display. That idea is believed to ruin the whole purpose of these thin bezels. Now, it os speculated that the Mi 5 will be 6.9mm thin, and will sport a metallic frame.
Furthermore, International Business Times cited other possible features that the Xiomi Mi 5 might sport. This handset might be armed with a 5.2-inch display, a Quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and a Snapdragon 820 chipset.
It is expected to arrive in storage variants of 32 GB and 64 GB. The 32 GB model will be coming with 3 GB of RAM while the 64 GB variant will be arriving with 4 GB of RAM. The rear camera of the handset will be of 21-megapixel and its front-facing snapper will be an 8-megapixel.
As for the device's price, NDTV Gadgets stated that the first version of Xiaomi Mi 5 might be tagged at CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 20,800) and another at CNY 2,499 (approximately Rs. 26,000).
No exact launch date was given yet, but there are peculations that the Xiaomi MI 5 will be announced on Jan. 21. Another variant of the handset called Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus is also expected to be launched alongside the Mi 5. Both the handsets are slated to be available on the market shelves by February 2016.
