News about Rizzoli & Isles have been scarce after the airing of its summer finale in September. Thankfully, fresh developments are now beginning to emerge for the cop drama. This includes the official announcement of its return date by TNT and series star Angie Harmon’s tribute to Cookie Lyon channeled by her new pet dog.
Two weeks ago, fans of Rizzoli & Isles received exciting news from TNT. The Janet Tamaro-produced series has been set to resume its sixth season on Tuesday, Feb. 16. The show’s remaining four episodes will air back-to-back beginning at 9PM. TV Line reported the news.
Series lead Angie Harmon, meanwhile, revealed that she idolizes Cookie Lyon. In a report from E! Online, the actress shared that the iconic Empire character – played by Taraji P. Henson -- inspired her to create an Instagram account for her dog, Daisy.
"I actually have an Instagram account for my dog that is half Chihuahua and half pug and is the cutest thing on the planet, but we've given her Cookie's voice," Harmon told the publication. Additionally, the actress admits that Henson’s gritty character is her “spirit animal”.
Daisy’s Instagram account, @MissDaisyHarmon has now more than 2000 followers. Harmon and her kids adopted Daisy this year from No-Kill Los Angeles (NKLA).
As to what happens next on the show, it’s still an ongoing mystery as to who kidnapped Maura Isles during the summer finale. Design & Trend dropped two suspects for Isles’ abduction in a report, citing that it’s possible that her mysterious assistant or the prison psychiatrist could be responsible for her sudden disappearance.
When Rizzoli & Isles returns in February, it is expected that the series will immediately address this kidnapping arc for Maura. TNT, however, has yet to release a statement on whether the Feb. 16th winter premiere will kick off with a time jump, a flash-forward, etc.
