In a postmortem interview, 'Once Upon A Time' co-creator Adam Horowitz discussed the Underworld storyline while also previewing Emma’s upcoming journey to save the love of her life, Hook, from the forces of the Underworld. In other news, the ABC series has tapped Rachel Helley to return in an upcoming episode in season 5.
The winter finale of Once Upon A Time introduced the setting of the Underworld, a new place that looks exactly like Storybrooke. Showrunner Adam Horowitz has addressed this similarity, noting that the show will address that particular point when it returns next year. “We can say that there is a very specific reason why it looks like Storybrooke, and it has to do with some of the folks we’re gonna meet down there,” Horowitz told The Hollywood Reporter.
The executive producer also shed some light on what will Emma’s journey be like in the remaining episodes. He previews that Jennifer Morrison’s character will be dealing with several things, and it will not solely focus on finding Hook. “It’s about what happens when Emma and all of our characters enter this realm and have to face things both from their past and present,” he previewed.
He says that this upcoming arc for Emma could hopefully stage an “exploration period” for Regina and co., specifically on the way they’ll react to unexpected things that will come their way.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Morrison, also offered some hints on Emma’s future in the Underworld. In a report from Entertainment Weekly, the actress reveals that Emma is in a state of shock after Hook sacrificed himself; and fans will be seeing her clueless about what to do next.
Moving forward, Emma must find out how to locate Gold as he holds the key in finding Hook. “As much as she’s furious at him, she also is grateful in a weird way that this is giving her a second chance at saving the man that she loves,” Morrison shared.
As for OUAT’s casting news, the ABC series will feature the return appearance of Rachel Helley in an upcoming season 5B episode. The actress, who made her debut in season 2, will reprise her role as Milah – Rumple’s wife and the mother of Baelfire.
According to Entertainment Weekly, details on why she will reappear on the series are still under wraps.
It’s going to be another exciting back half of episodes for Once Upon A Time as fans will see Emma battle against the Underworld’s threats to save the love of her life. Catch the midseason premiere on Sunday, March 6th at 8Pm on ABC.
