'Avengers: Infinity War' is an upcoming back-to-back installment based on the characters on the Marvel comic books. Co-director Anthony Russo revealed that The Defenders will not appear in his new films.
According to Comic Book, co-director Anthony Russo was asked regarding the appearance of another group of Marvel superheroes in his upcoming two-part action-adventure films. It was previously speculated that the team-up called The Defenders, which includes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage may show up in the upcoming 'Avengers: Infinity War'.
Russo revealed otherwise during an interview with Brazilian website SUPER Interessante saying, "It's complicated... When we start to serialize the telling of stories is difficult. You have to have a lot of control and focus on the course of history. The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others. Then there is the possibility of a crossover, but is more complicated."
Another article by Games Radar wrote that Russo's reply still makes it seem possible for a future crossover between the Netflix heroes and those with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). As for the upcoming 'Avengers: Infinity War' part one and two, chances are close to none since rights to the various characters are owned by different companies.
Crossovers have happened between television and films in the past including Agent Coulson of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' crossing over from the big-screen to television, according to Cinema Blend. It was also suggested that since The Defenders have become widely popular, it may be possible that the superhero team-up may make it to their own full feature film.
Russo will be directing the latest addition to the Avengers series with his brother Joe. The two collaborate on projects frequently and occasionally serve as screen writers, producers and even actors. They earned an Emmy Award for their work on the popular television series' 'Arrested Development' and helmed 'Captain America: Civil War' as well as 'Ant-Man'.
'Avengers: Infinity War' is an upcoming action and science-fiction superhero film based on the Marvel superhero team-up of the same name. Part one of the back-to-back installment is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2018 as while the second part will be released on May 3, 2019. Both films will be directed by the Russo brothers.
