'Boruto: Naruto the Movie' is a full-feature animated film based on the characters and story of Masashi Kishimoto's original manga series. It will screen in selected theaters in the United States on December 13-14, 2015. A possible spin-off may feature Naruto's friend Sasuke as the main protagonist.
According to Crunchy Roll, Fathom Entertainment, Viz Media and Eleven Arts announced that the highly popular Naruto spin-off film will finally hit select U.S. theaters soon enough. Additional screenings for North American audiences will take place on December 13 and December 14 this year. It was stated that that tickets have been available since December 4 and may be purchased in participating theaters as well as Fathom's own website over at FathomEvents.com.
The event will include an introduction from the New York Comic Con with opening remarks from original creator Masashi Kishimoto as well as Naruto's voice actor Junko Takeuchi.
Fathom Event's CEO John Rubey said, "We are pleased to partner with ELEVEN ARTS and VIZ Media, to give cinema audiences exclusive insights into the latest 'NARUTO' title including exclusive interviews with the creator and Japanese voice of Naruto... Now, anime fans nationwide have the opportunity to enjoy this exciting and highly anticipated event with other shinobi and kunoichi nationwide."
The list of selected movie theaters is posted on Anime News Network and features various designated locations around the U.S. such as cinemas around California, New York, Ohio, Texas, Washington and even Hawaii. It was reported that the screenings will commence on October 10 and that the film will have English subtitles instead of dubbing.
Kishimoto also worked as chief production supervisor for the film. He is credited with penning the original story as well as creating character designs. 'Boruto: Naruto the Movie' is considered the 11th Naruto film ever released and received massive success upon its release.
The animated film follows the stories of the children of the original series' main protagonists. Its events pick up several years after the original anime's conclusion where Naruto is recognized as his village's Seventh Hokage. His son, Boruto, is introduced in the film along with Sasuke Uchiha's daughter Sarada as they join the Chunin Exams hosted by the Hidden Leaf Village.
It was speculated that Kishimoto may further explore Boruto and Sarada's relationship in a possible spin-off. According to Christian Today, the Japanese manga artist expressed his desire to continue the story of the Konoha ninjas but said that it was only a possibility and nothing more. It was reported that should a spin-off happen, it may feature Sasuke's point of view as well as adventures.
'Boruto: Naruto The Movie' is the 11th film in the popular Naruto franchise. It was directed by Hiroyuki Yamashita based on a screenplay by original creator Masashi Kishimoto and co-writer Ukyo Kodachi. It features the voices of Yuko Sanpei as Boruto Uzumaki, Kokoro Kikuchi as Sarada Uchiha, Junko Takeuchi as Naruto Uzumaki and Noriaki Sugiyama as Sasuke Uchiha.
