Last month the LG G3 is reported to be obtaining the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on December. Now a source code was posted by the South Korean tech giant hinting that the release might be happening this week.
According to Ubergizmo, the users of LG G3 will be pleased to hear that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is set to hit their device sometime this month. It is ntended to arrive sometime between the 16th and the 18th of this month. Things do seem to indicate that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update has passed the testing phase, with LG rolling out the open source code for it as well.
The update itself has not been released to the public yet, but users of LG G3 should keep an eye out on reports which hail from Poland, as that tends to be the normal market of choice in which LG introduces their very first soak test. Additionally, it would be the international LG D855 version of the LG G3 that should obtain the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update first, whereas carrier and regional versions could very well receive the update some time later.
Furthermore, Android Headlines added that it's possible for the unlocked U.S. model to receive the update this month, if LG pushes it out. It was noted that the Verizon's model of the LG G3 just received the update to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop back in the beginning of October, and Verizon has never been one for a quick turn around on software updates. Considering this, it could be quite a few months before carrier models obtain the OTA update as it comes through from their respective networks. There is of course no confirmation on the details about when LG plans to release Marshmallow in its final state.
As a refresher, Phone Arena notes that this device was launched in Q1 2014 as one of the hottest Android smartphones on the market. The G3 sports a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1440 by 2560 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset coupled with 2 GB of RAM, a 16 GB of microSD-expandable storage, and a 13MP primary camera with OIS.
With the LG G3 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update underway, it is the perfect time to learn more about the most recent version of Android, its enhancements and new features.
