HTC has been doubling its effort in releasing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to it handsets in different countries. Now, the HTC One M9 devices under Canadian carriers are bound to receive the newest software by Google in early 2016.
MobiPicker recently reported that Mo Versi, VP of Product management at HTC, has revealed the roll-out schedule for the smartphone on carriers in Canada. Answering to a query on Twitter, Mo Versi confirmed that the HTC One M9 will receive the Android 6.0 update early next year. It is said to initially be updated with Android 6.0 and users will have to wait for some more time to receive Android 6.0.1, which comes with the expanded emoji set.
Phone Arena stated that back in October, Canadian carrier Telus updated its software release schedule. The adjustment calls for the mobile operator to start rolling out Android 6.0 to the HTC One M9 on January 21st. Other Canadian carriers should begin updating their branded One M9 to Android 6.0 at around the same time. The Telus customers with the HTC One M8 will be obtaining Android 6.0 on December 17th.
Meanwhile, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes with Doze Mode, which puts the handset into a deep sleep when it is inactive. It will disconnect apps from running in the background, and increases standby time by a large amount.
The update also adds contextual search with Google Now On Tap. This feature figures out what is on the screen and deliver the information to the user. Another part of Marshmallow is the new app permissions system, which allows owners of the handset to give or deny permission on a feature to feature basis.
According to Android Authority, more enhancements are added with the first and latest update, Android 6.0.1. It will deliver expanded emoji selection and a fix for the clock mechanism glitch that tells a tall tale about time. As of the moment, the new version is limited to select Android One, Nexus devices, and the Pixel C.
With the HTC One M9 confirmed to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow early next year, users of this handsets won't have to wait that long. As for other HTC devices, they are also expected to follow suit.
