HTC has been really working hard to push latest operating system updates to its handsets. Now, the Taiwanese tech company is expected to roll out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to One M9+, One M9+ Supreme, One E8, One M8 and other pioneer models.
According to Android Headlines, HTC is among the first ones to give the official list of the devices that would be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Actually, the company even released the One A9 with this version of the OS out of the box. This handset is one of the few devices that is currently running on Marshmallow. The Taiwanese company is working hard on bringing the update to some other devices such as the One M8 quite soon.
Additionally, LlabTooFer has become known for providing some leaked information which have turned out to be true. Recently, LlabTooFer who is known for providing leaks, has published a picture with the supposed schedule for some HTC devices to get updated to newer versions of Android. Basically, every mid-range or high-end device from 2014 and 2015 will receive Marshmallow update with HTC's custom skin called Sense 7.0.
He also mentioned that Dual SIM versions of the devices in the picture are obtaining the update as well, although those handsets might take a few extra months before they receive the new software. LlabTooFer also made it clear that HTC could change their plans along the way, so the upgrade might get cancelled or postponed for some handsets.
MobiPicker gave the list of the HTC handsets that are eligible for the Android Marshmallow update. The list includes the One M9+, One M9+ Supreme, One E8, One M8, and One M8s all of which are skipping the Android 5.1 update directly for Android 6.0 in Q1 2016. But the One M8s are exception as the update for this handset will arrive in Q2 2016.
Furthermore, the Butterfly 2 along with Desire 826 and Desire 820 will be skipping Android 5.1 Lollipop and 6.0 Marshmallow directly for Android 6.0.1 in Q2 2016. HTC will be giving the Desire 816 a direct update to Android 6.0 in Q2 2016.
PhoneDog added that the One A9 is expected to get Android 6.0.1 in early Q1 2016. The One M9 may get Android 6.0 in late December 2015 and Android 6.0.1 in Q1 2016. Moreover, the One M8 will get Android 6.0, but its Android 6.0.1 update is currently in evaluation stage. That means that HTC is still deciding whether or not that update will be offered.
These are the lucky HTC handsets that are expected to obtain the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. However, until the said operating system's release, the list and schedule are still open for changes.
