The recently-launched Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime rivals existing budget smartphones like the Meizu M2 Note in the Indian market. The Meizu smartphone has an edge over Xiaomi's offering with its better processor, display, and memory size.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note Prime in India this month of December. The Redmi Note Prime is an affordable smartphone that packs decent specs and features. NDTV Gadgets reported that the Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 3,100 mAh battery, 2GB RAM, and 16GB of memory expandable to 32GB via microSD.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime runs on Android 4.4 OS with MIUI 7 on top. It flaunts a 13MP primary camera located at the rear and a 5MP snapper at the front. It sports a 5.5" touchscreen HD IPS LCD screen with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and 267 ppi. The 2015 Redmi Note Prime takes design inspiration from the 2014 Redmi Note handset.
Xiaomi's Redmi Note Prime rivals other budget smartphones in the Indian market. International Business Times stated that Xiaomi's new budget phone challenges the existing Meizu M2 Note. However, it seems that the Meizu M2 Note proves to be a better offering than the Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime. The Meizu M2 Note wins in terms of display, processor, and memory.
According to the report, the Meizu M2 Note's 5.5" full HD display offers better graphics. Its screen has 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 401 ppi.
Under the hood, the Meizu M2 Note is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 chipset paired with 2GB RAM. It was reported that the Meizu Note's processor performs better than Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime's Snapdragon 410. It runs on Android Lollipop wrapped under Flyme 4.5 OS as per BGR.
The Meizu M2 Note also comes with 16GB of internal storage that can be upgraded to 128GB using microSD cards. The Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime is limited to only up to 32GB of memory.
However, the Meizu M2 Note comes with a higher price tag than the Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime. Meizu's offering has a price of Rs. 9,999 while Xiaomi's phone costs Rs. 8,499. Both devices are for sale in Amazon India.
