Live-action 'The Little Mermaid' suffered a major blow with the loss of Sofia Coppola due to 'creative differences'. However, fans can now rejoice again as Universal found Rebecca Thomas, and Chloe Grace Moretz is very glad with the replacement.
Rebecca Thomas is up-and-coming filmmaker who has been in demand since she began directing "Electrick Children" in 2012 which stars Rorry Culkin and Julia Garner. And now she's in talks to direct a live-action adaptation of the Little Mermaid which stars Chloe Grace Moretz. According to The Wrap, Moretz and Thomas met this week and the two seems to be liking each other now.
The director remains attached to direct Looking for Alaska by John Green in Paramount Studio. While The Little Mermaid has not received a green light yet, Richard Curtis is now writing the script. Meanwhile the movie Looking for Alaska is yet to cast anyone - and yes, they don't care about Christian Andersen's version of Ariel.
Meanwhile, many Disney Fans were horrified when Chloe Moretz recently revealed that Little Mermaid wouldn't have red hair. Her statement was considered to be blasphemous in social media since all Disney fans know perfectly well that Ariel's hair is red and that it is one of her defining characteristic.
In response to all the backlash, Chloe is speaking up again to assure the world there's still hope for The Little Mermaid's red hair. She said, "I actually don't know what the hair color's gonna be!"
Eric Fellner will be the one producing the film while Amelia Granger and Liza Chasin will be the executive producers. Universal studios are still working on the title.
With Thomas and Moretz now in the picture, Disney fans are now looking forward on seeing its first trailer and poster. Will Chloe color her hair red for 'The Little Mermaid' movie? Will Chloe do it for the fans? Can Thomas direct better than Coppola?
