After a few years of being silent in the Hollywood industry, Kurt Russell landed a big role in Quentin Tarantino's Hateful Eight and Universal Studio's Fast and Furious 7 in 2015. The actor is also working on a horror-western Bone Tomahawk. Becoming Star-Lord's father might even make the next following years of his life even bigger.
The Wrap reported that seasoned actor Kurt Russell is James Gunn's 'first choice' to play the father of Peter Quil (Star-Lord) who is played by Chris Pratt in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Russell has always been a popular draw and if he takes part on the Guardian s of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which apparently he hasn't read the script yet, he will be joining a star-studded actors like Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Benicio del Toro, Sean Gunn, Karren Gillan, and Bradley Cooper. Along with Kurt Russell, Pom Klementieff will also be joining as a newcomer - casted as the Mantis.
Hollywood news website says that the Marvel studio is yet to have a meeting, a script reading, and then an official offer.
In Guardians of the Galaxy comic books, Peter Quill's origin and parentage has had multiple revisions over the past years. The recent changes says that an alien ruler name J'son of Spartax is his father. However, James Gunn said that J'Son will not be Star-Lord's father in the upcoming movies.
Peter Quill's father who was revealed at the end of the Guardians of the Galaxy is said to be an unknown alien whose origins is not from Quill's planet. Though there has been no clear plot, Kurt Russell as Star-Lord's father will surely play a very important role. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set to open this May 5, 2017.
