Developer Freestyle Games listened to community feedback and granted gamers' request of having the ability to battle another player on a one-one-one challenge. They just recently announced that they have updated Guitar Hero Live and added in a new head-to-head competitive mode for GHTV mode called Rival Challenges. This feature will enable players to have a one-on-one, head-to-head battle against each other, as part of the free update to the game.
The new progression system allows the players to unlock new upgrades, and play against people of a similar rank in GHTV songs. These songs are chosen by Activision, reported Gamespot. Winners of this game will get +100 XP aside from other bonuses.
Activision's creative director, Jamie Jackson, explained how this new feature works. Jackson said, "As you play through the channels, you will periodically be matched up against a similar-skilled opponent to square off, 1-on-1 style, in a song battle to test your skills." He also noted that Rival Challenges will occur twice in every half-hour show, reported Eurogamer.
A player needs to be at level 10 or higher to unlock Rival Challenges. Once the player hits the level 10, he will accumulate some Hero Powers and will gain access to Guitar Upgrades. When the battle starts, both the player and his opponent will see each other's note highway and playercard on screen.
Another add-on included in this update are the daily bonus of play tokens for one to be able to play three tracks on demand. A player will also be able to tag songs as favorites, either after playing a song in a channel, or directly through the on-demand catalog. This feature comes very handy as this will enable players to revisit previously played songs, noted VG 24/7.
Freestyle Games also stated that they will have some great holiday-themed shows arriving in GHTV. The competitive mode Rival Challenge add-on to the game will offer something more entertaining and exciting for Guitar Hero Live gaming enthusiasts.
