Nexus handsets are always the first units to receive the latest operating system update from Google. Now, that the biggest search engine has released the Android 6.0.1; Nexus 5, 6, 7 and 10 are expected to obtain the said update.

According to Gospel Herald, it's always interesting once Google upgrades to a new version of their personal Operating System, Android. Whenever there is an upgrade, the biggest search engine company always manages to update its own devices, the Nexus series, first.

The new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P have got the latest update as they came out the box, and the users of the Nexus 5, 6, 7 (2013), 9, and Nexus Player are getting their upgrade as well. Now that Android 6.0 is out, this would be a good time to talk about the release of Android 6.0.1.

It was reported that the Android 6.0.1 will be rolled out on Nexus devices like the Nexus 5, 6, 7 (2013), 9, and the Nexus Player. This has been confirmed in a report, saying that the rollout for these devices will occur in stages, with some carriers (Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, T-Mobile, and AT&T) set to receive the update sooner than others.

Additionally, it is also stated that the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2012) and Nexus 10 are not scheduled to receive the update.

The Australia Network cited the new features and enhancements that the Android 6.0 and 6.0.1 will bring to the aforementioned devices. The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow gives pioneer devices the ability to open up the camera by double tapping the power button. Google launched this feature earlier this year with the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5x. However, this is the first time to come to older Nexus devices.

Moreover, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update also brings the On Tap functionality for Google Now. The upgrade also improves battery life, courtesy of the new Doze Mode. Apart from that, the new OS brings back as well the ability to mute all user notifications tuntil the next scheduled alarm goes off.

As the Android 6.0 and 6.0.1 Marshmallow update will be rolling out to the above mentioned handsets, users of these devices will surely enjoy the new features and improvements that it will bring. Furthermore, they just have to wait for the schedule as to when the update will hit their handsets.
