There is so much anticipation with the upcoming Mr. Robot season 2 which will air next year. The writers are now busy preparing the storyline for the sophomore season. Meanwhile, Mr. Robot is nominated in the 2016 Golden Globes Awards.
According to Variety, the Mr. Robot writers room is up and running in Los Angeles although the show will again be shot in New York. In addition, showrunner and creator Sam Esmail is expected to direct all 10 episodes. In season one, Esmail directed three episodes and wrote five episodes. Esmail won plenty of praise for the show's unique feel and the strength of its vision and USA Network president Chris McCumber is very happy to have found those qualities in Esmail.
"We are really happy that people are seeing the same things that we see in a show that we love so much," McCumber said.
Although there are no specific details released regarding the second season's storyline, Esmail and Rami Malek shared some juicy bits about season 2 during the Independent Feature Project's (IFP) Gotham Independent Film Awards last November, according to Vulture as cited in Christian Today. Esmail hinted that BD Wong's Whiterose character will appear in the next season.
The show has garnered a number of good reviews in season 1 and an exciting season 2 to follow soon, but because Mr. Robot is up for three Golden Globe nominations, according to iDigital Times.
Mr. Robot is nominated for best drama series, Rami Malek for best actor and Christian Slater for best actor in a supporting role. The show was also nominated by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) for Malik's acting chops, plus nominations from the Writers Guild in both the new series and drama series categories.
No specific date has been released yet, but the second season of Mr. Robot might premiere between June or July next year.
