The second installment of Mr. Robot is confirmed to premiere on 2016. Although there is no confirmed date yet, many fans anticipate the show to premiere next year with a more challenging and darker story surrounding Elliot Alderson. Meanwhile, the hit hacker series is nominated in The Writer's Guild of America Awards for two categories. Season 1 is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
TV Line has released the list of nominees for The Writers Guild of America Awards 2016 and hacker-themed TV series Mr. Robot is included in two categories namely drama series and new series. The other nominees for the drama series include The Americans, Better Call Saul and Game of Thrones, while the other nominees for new series are Better Call Saul, Bloodline, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and The Last Man on Earth, the only comedy series in the list. The winners will be announced on February 13, 2016.
Mr. Robot took home the award for Breakthrough Series - Longform at the recent IFP Gotham Independent Film Awards ceremony, according to Mstarz and the possibility of the hit TV drama series going up to the Golden Globes awards next is not too far.
Show creator, director and writer Sam Esmail has been mum about season 2. However, according to Vulture, Esmail seems to hint at an involvement on Whiterose, played by BD Wong, in season 2. Whiterose is an elusive character who appeared on the last scene of season one's final episode where he met with Evil Corp. head Philip Price secretly in an exclusive country club.
"[BD Wong] is amazing in the first season. I'd be a fool not to bring him back," Esmail said.
Mr. Robot stars Rami Malek, Christian Slater, Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin and Martin Wallstrom. The first season of Mr. Robot will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on January 12. The show is currently available on Amazon Video for purchase and for online streaming. The show will premiere on the small screen in 2016 on USA.
