After DC's release of Wonder Woman, it is time for Marvel to provide the audience with a woman of their own. The anticipated film Captain Marvel is schedule for 2019 release but the information regarding the development of the movie is still fuzzy. As reported by Cinema Blend, the rumors about who would take the helm for the project started with Angelina Jolie that would also serve as her debut on a big blockbuster movie. Also, The Avengers director, Joss Whedon, is included in the shortlisted with him being a perfect filmmaker for the female-led motion picture. He stated that he is interested with pursuing other creative projects but didn't rule out the possibility.
More on to this, Reed Morano, the Meadowland director, expressed her thoughts about the Captain Marvel in an interview by saying "I just want to tell good stories with rich, complex characters." She added that the story excites her due to the completely three dimensional and compelling story of the superhero. Would this be a subtle way of her saying that she's interested with directing the film?
With the film's pool of possible director revealed, rumours about the eyed actresses who would fit the role of Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel surfaced. According to Cross Map, Emily Blunt was the top chosen actress for the film by a website. However, Emily Blunt's interview reported that the Edge of Tomorrow actress is not familiar with comic heroes, telling that they're not her forte. Another actress mentioned is Jessica Chanstain, wherein she seemed to take up the challenge of being the Captain Marvel. She stated in an interview that she want to be a part of it, emphasizing that she want to make some action. Other actresses in the list include Katee Sackhoff and Shailene Woodley.
Captain Marvel is an upcoming film that would centre on a female lead superhero, Carol Danvers.
