Macaulay Culkin Returns as Kevin McCallister for :DRYVRS

By

Macaulay Culkin is back and this time, he's taking on a role close to him and to all his fans. Playing the role of the iconic 8-year-old Kevin McCallister from the movie series, "Home Alone," Culkin reprises his role on a new web series called :DRYVRS. The clip happens to be the premiere episode of the web series and it pokes fun at Culkin's most popular role.

One twist for the clip, however, is that Kevin has grown up and has carried all the trauma he encountered when he was just a young boy: being left home alone during Christmas twice, facing two inept criminals, and being threatened for his life. Did we mention all these things happened before Kevin even turned 10? So just like in reality, these things could scar him for life and he'd grow up to be a troubled man. That is exactly the twist to the plot of this :DRYVRS episode.

The clip starts off with Culkin driving a car to an address. Apparently, Culkin is standing in as a driver for his wife who works in an on-demand car service, much similar to that of Uber. His passenger is none other than Regina Spektor's husband, Jack Dishel, who also created the entire web series. But before Dishel could even disclose where his destination was, Culkin goes on a rant and shares he doesn't know how to drive a car. To this, Dishel offers to drive them both to the address instead, which prompts them both to switch seats.

While he's driving, Dishel notices Culkin sulking in the back seat and voluntarily missing a phone call. He asks if the call is from his wife, to which Culkin responds that it's his mom calling him. Culkin then goes on a full rant of how he was left home alone for a week during Christmas when he was just 8 years old and how he had to protect his home from a couple of psychopath invaders.

As Dishel pulls up into his destination, a stranger comes up to the car and tells him to get out. Culkin, backed with his experience dealing with thieves, manages to disarm the stranger using only random objects. Later on, the stranger is tied up in Christmas lights and placed in a garage where Culkin decides to deal with him on his own terms. The screen is darkened to presume that things got a tad bit disturbing and certainly not PG.

:DRYVRS is a series of clips released online chronicling Dishel's real life experiences with ride-share drivers. Throughout the clip, there was no direct confirmation that Culkin was playing his role from the 1990 movie. But given the clues and reference he used, it doesn't take a genius to add two and two together.
