Ridley Scott's latest film, the 'Alien: Covenant' is getting closer and closer to kickoff its production. The latest return to the Xenomorph-infested world and the sequel to 2012's Promotheus will introduce many new characters. Alien: Covenant has already found one of its lead, Katherine Waterston.
Katherine Waterston, 35 year old actress is part of Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice last year, which also starred Joaquin Phoenix. Waterston also appeared in Steve Jobs earlier this year and will co-star in the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which is a spin-off of Harry Potter.
Alien Covenant is the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began in the movie Prometheus. Scott mentioned in an interview that all the forms of the classic Xenomorph will still be present in the upcoming film, from the memorable 'egg' to the 'big bad boy himself'. Ridley Scott also added, "We'll have them all," Scott promises, "Egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy."
Promotheus was set about 30 years before the event in 1979's Alien which was also directed by Ridley Scott. Promotheus generated $399,005,706 in worldwide box office, which focused on a Spaceship called Promotheus and was boarded by scientists who discovered remains of an advanced civilization.
Alien: Covenant is set to begin filming in February 2016 in Australia, with familiar stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapce. Also returning to their roles as scientists, Shaw, David, and Elizabeth.
This will be Katherine Waterston's biggest role to date. One of the most basic questions Director Ridley Scott needs to answer in the film Alien: Covenant and the subsequent film is, who made the titular alien? Also, why did these 'guys' created them? Lastly, is Katherine Waterston ready for this role? For now all will be speculations until it opens this October 6, 2017.
