Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is now available to Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo smartphones via XDA. The custom software brings native features of Lollipop on top of additions from the developers including an exciting expansion of Marshmallow.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo can now be updated to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop through a custom build by XDA. Lollipop's custom ROM has been prepared to provide the device additional features on top of Android's original set.
Prior to installing the ROM, XDA developers reminds device owners to clear up storage space of the device and back up necessary files since the build will wipe out all the data stored in the phone. Also, make sure that the device is charged to at least 60 percent to prevent power interruption which is a primary cause to damage phone.
Prerequisites before the ROM can be downloaded to Galaxy Note 3 Neo include a rooted phone, an unlocked bootloader, and a custom recovery like ClockWorkMod (CWM) and TeamWin Recovery Project (TWRP).
To flash the ROM on the device, here's a quick rundown to install the XDA ROM:
1. Back up important files.
2. Enable USB Debugging Mode.
3. Download the XDA ROM and Google Apps package. Do not extract contents.
4. Save it on a PC.
5. Connect phone to PC using a cable.
6. Copy the downloaded files from PC to phone.
7. Disconnect phone and shut it down.
8. Boot into recovery mode by simultaneously press holding volume up, home and power buttons.
9. Perform wipe data tasks.
10. Select 'Install zip from sdcard.'
11. Select 'Choose zip from sdcard.'
12. Locate the XDA and Google Apps package.
13. Confirm flashing process.
14. Go to main recovery menu.
15. Restart device.
After five minutes, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo should be running on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. To check the software version, head over to Settings >About phone > Software updates > Check for updates.
