In a TechCrunch report, Samsung Electronics Co reportedly claimed to be the first company to create a market for the "Fonblet." The South Korean gadget maker promised that the mobile device, akin to a phablet, would edge out the large phone and smartphone competition due to its better display resolution and handwriting recognition.
Samsung said it would be increasing the display resolution of its smartphones in the next two years. The company said it would be equipping new smartphones with WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440) displays in 2014, and mobile phones with Ultra HD or 3840 x 2106 screens in 2015.
In an Analyst Day held on Wednesday in Seoul, Samsung chief executive officer JK Shin said the company would be shipping more than 100 million Galaxy S and Note phones this year. Moreover, the company presentation indicated that between the mid-2012 to mid-2013, Samsung recorded more than 40 million Android-based shipments. This was a 17.6% increase from the company's sales the previous year, said tech website Tech In Asia.
