The Auburn Tigers welcomed its new coach Bruce Pearl, reported ESPN. The news was confirmed by Pearl along with the school on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by Pearl, "I'm humbled and blessed to be back in the game that I love. I don't know how long it will take, but it's time to rebuild the Auburn basketball program and bring it to a level of excellence so many of the other teams on campus enjoy."
Pearl faced controversy in 2011 after taking Tennessee to play in the NCAA tournament in each of the coach’s six seasons. Pearl was fired after not telling the truth to the NCAA in March 2011 when the team recruited Aaron Craft. The three-year show given to Pearl by the NCAA would expire in August. The new Auburn coach will not be allowed to have any recruits contact this summer.
However, Pearl was allowed to evaluate those who were recruited into the team during the July recruitment period. He was also an ESPN analyst for over two years.
