Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini vs HTC One Mini 2: Which One is the Better Smartphone?

Samsung and HTC have been preparing for the launch of its mini flagship devices. HTC appears to be following the footsteps of Samsung releasing more compact editions of its original product line. As both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One flagships have received positive response, can the two companies replicate the same success with their mini versions? Can Samsung translate Samsung Galaxy S5's success in adoption or will HTC be the crowned the better product?

To understand how each product will perform against the other, it is best to take a look at their expected features.

Screen and Display

Both the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and HTC One Mini 2 will reportedly come with a 4.5-inch display. The S5 Mini will be larger than the previous Galaxy S4 Mini offering a 4.3-inch display. Other reported specs of the S5 Mini display include Super AMOLED technology and pixel density at 326ppi.

HTC One Mini 2 will come with a 720 HD display plus a premium-looking aluminum chassis.

Software and Hardware

The Samsung Galaxy S5 will ship with a quad core processor, Android 4.4 Kitkat and 1.5GB RAM. It will also feature Samsung's trademark TouchWiz UI found on the S5. Other features to expect include 2100 mAh battery, Wi Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, NFC, Bluetooth v 4.0 connectivity and IR blaster. Samsung has not finalized the details of the chipset although there have been reports saying that the company may also go for a Snapdragon 400 with dual processor clocked at 1.7 GHz plus Andreno GPU of 305.

The HTC One Mini 2 will reportedly run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, Android 4.4 KitKat and the new Sense UX from HTC. It will also feature 1GB RAM.

Both companies have not released the final details of their devices. People will have to wait until the devices hit stores to make the final verdict.
