Often, it takes some time before Android smartphone manufacturers to release OS updates to their devices. Companies have to tweak the Android source code to match their interface and product features. Configuring the source code may require some time thus the roll out in stages. Some users get the update sooner or later depending on their device and carrier. Huawei promised users that will receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update soon.
Previously, the company promised users that the update will be released earlier in the year but it did not push through until March. The release was limited to domestic users thus leaving the question when other users can upgrade to the firmware. While it has been quite a few weeks following the March release, there are no signs the software is rolling out to other users yet.
Some sources expected the roll out to be this June but it may not be the case. The Droid Guy reported about possible changes in Huawei's timeline. The company may delay the release again until July. This is also supported by the information posted about the Beta Tester part under the German website of the OEM.
People will have to wait for the final announcement from the company or until the update really becomes available. It will be hard to predict when the over the air release will be until Huawei releases the firmware. Analysts also pointed out the tenure of the handset in the market. Compared to other smartphones, Huawei's Ascend P6 is old already thus the need for the update to be available as soon as possible.
Huawei's Ascend P6 comes with a quad-core K3V2 chip and sports a 4.7-inch 720p display. Analysts have also responded positively to the company's Ascend P7. Featuring a 5.0 inch 1080 x 1920 display with 321ppi, 2GB RAM and 1.8 GHz quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 910T processor, the device has been compared to the likes of HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5.
