Google's Nexus 4 was among the first in line to receive the Android 4.4.3 update. Apart from update issues, here are some top problems and fixes for the device.
1. Overheating
All smart phones heat up with use, especially when you run intensive games or applications that use a lot of processing power. It will also heat up when used for an extended period of time, but it should not get too hot. Many users encounter problems with the Nexus 4 heating up when they use Chrome, as well as Google Earth, and calls or other applications. Some have reported that their phones get too hot that they automatically shut down.
Fix: Try reducing gaming and online browsing time, and disable any unwanted functions like Wi-FI, cellular data, GPS, etc. Also, try turning it off when it is not needed, like when sleeping, so that it can rest.
2. Camera lag
Nowadays, the camera is an integral part of any smart phone because this is the go-to camera of many owners. Users have reported an annoying lag on their cameras. Some users have had to restart their phones because the Camera application froze while they were taking pictures.
Fix: The Camera application and the Gallery work together - when the camera takes a shot, the application then sends the photo to the gallery for storage and viewing later. This is usually where the problem comes from. Users can prevent this by going to Settings > Apps > Gallery > Tap Force Stop, Clear Cache, and Clear Data >Launch Gallery again. This addresses the problem, but if it persists, users must restart their phone.
3. Yellow tint on screen
Users have reported a yellow tint or blob on their screens that usually appear on the lower left side of the phone.
Fix: Try calibrating the screen using the Faux Clock Application, but this requires users to root the device. Another reason for this could be the glue that has not yet dried up. Some users tried waiting for it to dry, and noticed that it was gone after a few days. If the problem still persists, arrange getting a replacement from LG, Google or your retailer.
