By

Apple got ahead of Google holding its Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this June. Google's I/O is just a week away and it got the market buzzing on what it has in store. According to reports, the company may announce the release of the Nexus 8 tablet during the event. Additional information also suggests that Google plans to discuss more of its Google Glass and Android 4.5 Lollipop releases during the conference.

Google and Apple do not share a similar rivalry with Apple and Samsung but they have been competing in the mobile operating system arena. This is also one of the main reasons why Apple's announcement of the iOS 8 places a pressure on what Google could be announcing over its upcoming Android 4.5 Lollipop platform. The company has also its share of tablets and smartphones putting it in competition with Apple.

Android 4.5 or 5.0 Lollipop

After being in the rumor mill for quite some time, Google has released the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update finally. This means, Google is left to reveal the Android 4.5 Lollipop. Whereas many refer to it as the Android 4.5 update, many also call it the Android 5.0 Moonshine according to the report by PC Advisor. As noted in the report, Google has been working on transforming its mobile operating system to enhance tablet experience.

The Android 4.5 or 5.0 update can also be considered under the Hera initiative of Google. The goal is to unify the experience and capabilities of other Google platforms like Search, Chrome and Android. This should offer a more robust and organized ecosystem.

Nexus 8

Google's Nexus 8 has been in the headlines for quite some time. According to reports, the internet giant is making the switch because it the 7-inch market is already saturated. The Nexus 8 will reportedly feature advanced vision capabilities plus 64-bit processor.

Google Glass Consumer Edition

There is already an "Explore Edition" of Google Glass. This time, Google will reportedly release a consumer edition of the device. This Google Glass edition will be comparatively cheaper at $300 compared to the $1500 price tag of the previous edition.

The market will have to wait until the conference to know the final details for these devices.
