2014 NBA Free Agency rumors: Houston Rockets interested in Chris Bosh

By

Chris Bosh is one of the most coveted power forwards in the coming 2014 NBA free agency. His versatility and ability to stretch the floor with his shooting makes him a valuable addition to any team especially contenders. The Mavs have been eying him for years now given that the Heat star is a Dallas native and could be a potential replacement to Nowitzki once he decides to ride the sunset.

This year however, a different Texas team is interested in the shooting big man as according to USA Today, Bosh is among the players Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is keeping his eye on.

Bosh has an early termination clause but has yet to exercise it although he has expressed the desire to return to the Miami Heat this offseason. If the Rockets manage to land Bosh, then they would be able to effectively fill up the power forward position - something that has been lacking in the Rockets roster when they got torched by LaMarcus Aldridge in the first round of the playoffs.

If LeBron - one of the Rockets most coveted players in this summer's free agency - decides to sign with another team not named the Heat, then we may be seeing Houston making a push for Bosh and possibly Carmelo Anthony.

"James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have the ability to opt out of their Heat contracts, and Bosh would certainly be on the Rockets' short list of targets should James decide to head elsewhere," says Sam Amick. "Should Anthony opt out of his New York Knicks deal, he could take a similar path to the one chosen by Howard last July - eschew the flagship franchise that is flailing for the fourth-largest city in the country and a talented roster that, once Howard was in tow, won 54 games before being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Portland Trail Blazers."

Bosh should take interest in the Rockets given Howard's dominance down low. With Howard wrecking havoc in the post and Harden constantly slicing the opponent's defense, Bosh can simply launch bombs from beyond the arc whole game long.
