Sony Xperia Z users can bring the Xperia Z Ultra features to their devices through a custom ROM. The firmware takes after the official release of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware 10.5.A.0.230 from Sony. The custom ROM provides Xperia Z2 features and full Xperia Z Ultra port.

Users should satisfy the following prior to installation:

  • The custom ROM is for Sony Xperia Z variant. It should not be tested in other units.
  • ClockworkMod should be installed while the device must be rooted.
  • At least 80% battery

To install the ROM, follow these steps:

1. Save Android 4.4.2 Z-Ultraized ROM for Xperia Z.

2. Connect the Xperia device to the computer through USB.

3. Transfer the ROM to the device's SD card. It should be copied to the root folder of the SD card.

4. Switch off the device and disconnect from the computer.

5. Reboot the phone to Recovery Mode. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons.

6. In the ClockworkMod Recovery, finish a data wipe. To do this, select "wipe data/factory reset." Users can use the power button to go through the interface.

7. Select "wipe cache partition" to complete the wipe.

8. Go back to the primary recovery screen. Select "install zip from SD card".

9. Click on "choose zip from sdcard". Use Volume keys to access the ROM file. Proceed with power button.

10. Wait for the installation to be completed and select "+++++Go Back+++++." Reboot the device and proceed with "reboot system now."

After the process, the device should have the ROM.
