NBA Free Agency Report: Chris Bosh to Houston confirmed if LeBron leaves Miami

By

Reports from ESPN have confirmed that Chris Bosh will sign with the Houston Rockets if LeBron James decides to part ways with the Miami Heat.

According to Brian Windhorst and Chris Broussard of ESPN.com, "If James does choose to leave the Heat, free agent Chris Bosh will sign with the Houston Rockets, sources said. James not rushing to make a choice could put a time squeeze on Bosh. Though he hopes to remain with the Heat along with James, sources said, Bosh has secured a backup offer for four years and $88 million from the Rockets."

The situation for both Bosh and Houston, however, has become even more complicated after the Mavericks signed Rockets restricted free agent swing-man Chanlder Parsons to a 3-year offer worth more than $45 million on Wednesday. The moment Parsons officially signs the offer sheet from the Mavs this Thursday, Houston will have 72 hours to decide on whether they will match the offer or let Parson's walk to the Mavs to make room for Bosh.

Obviously, the Rockets would prefer to delay the process as long as it takes. The best scenario for them would be to sign Bosh first with the cap space and then go over the cap to resign Parsons-- something in the realm of possibility as long as Parson's cap hold remains on the books. But everything will boil down to LeBron James and whether or not he will continue to delay his decision which will affect Bosh's decision to sign earlier with the Rockets before Parson's $45 million contract officially kicks in.

With that being said, Bosh has a timetable of three days to determine whether or not James will resign with the Heat. If Bosh decides to wait for James for more than 3 days and James decides to leave anyway, then Bosh may be stuck with the Heat without James with an aging Dwyane Wade because Houston will have to match Dallas's offer to Parsons and they won't be able to give bosh the max contract that they promised. If he signs with the Rockets before James makes a decision, he might miss out on being a part of the Heat's Big 3 in Miami.

Bosh, therefore, has a lot of thinking to do but ultimately his future rests on James--and so does the Rockets.
