Netflix has officially renewed its hit prison dramedy "Orange Is the New Black" for a third season. The show is expected to return sometime in 2015.
A report by The Independent shows a behind-the-scenes photo of star Natasha Lyonne (Nicky) on set. This hints that we might finally see her back story in the upcoming season.
Nicky is an important character in the series but the show has not given audiences a lot of information about her life before she went to jail. So far, the show has revealed that she's from a wealthy family and got estranged from her mother, and that she became addicted to drugs and eventually needed to have an open heart surgery.
No further information has been provided on what the upcoming season's plot would be. Even star Jason Biggs said: "It's very unclear at this point, even for me."
Meanwhile, Lorraine Toussaint (Vee) has officially joined the cast of AVC show "Forever," so it's possible that she will not be back for the third season. In an interview with BuzzFeed, Toussaint said:
"We're not sure if Vee is dead. She could be dead, she could not be dead. That's an open-ended question still. Isn't that a scary proposition? She might need to be dead. I don't know."
BuzzFeed asked Netflix about Vee's storyline for season 3, but the network did not comment.

One thing's for sure, though: We'll surely be seeing more of stars Taylor Schilling (Piper), Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes), Laura Prepon (Alex), Danielle Brooks (Tasha), and Taryn Manning (Tiffany), Yael Stone (Lorna), and Dascha Polanco (Daya) on Season 3.
