As Arrow returns for its third season, a new villain will be coming to Starling City that will be spoiling the much-awaited "Olicity" date. Caity Lotz is sure to return, while Katie Cassidy could don Black Canary costume. Brandon Routh will be joining Arrow as The Atom and the Flash crossover is already in the works.
In an interview with executive producer Marc Guggenheim, Zap2it found out that the third season will begin completely different from season 2. Guggenheim says that the team is "clicking like you wouldn't believe" and that things are great. Oliver Queen, who is played by Stephen Amell, has a relationship cooking. Laurel Lance, played by Katie Cassidy, is also in a good position for the team. With Lance positioned as DA, Guggenheim describes their relationship as "He's (Queen) setting them up and she's (Lance) knocking them down." There will also be more about Lance, says IB Times. Fans are expecting to see Cassidy in the Black Canary costume after her sister Sara (Caity Lotz) symbolically passed it on to her at the end of season 2.
However, even as the show writer says that the city is not falling apart, Guggenheim teases that "It's all going to fall apart!" Guggenheim says there is a central mystery in season 3 that is not present in season 2. IBTimes also reports Amell posting on Twitter about his body hurting from "Episode 301", which could imply some action on his part that fans will be eager to see as the show returns on October 8 at The CW.
As for the characters, Guggenheim spoke of Thea Queen's return after going with Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), but says that he would like to keep her return in mystery. The exec also teased about a new "Big Bad", though stopped short at saying who it will be. Guggenheim hints that this villain will be "very different from both Slade and Malcolm".
A new character in the form of Ray Palmer, who is also known as The Atom, will also be joining the cast. Palmer will be played by Brandon Routh. IBTimes speculates that Routh's character will be spoiling the Oliver-Felicity Smoak romance. Show writer Andrew Kreisberg explained that "He (Routh) and Felicity can have that verbal repartee that we haven't typically had on the show." He also continues to say that the two are "really cute together", says IBTimes. Routh is also speculated to be the Big Bad, but no confirmation on that yet.
Fans are also in for a treat come November as the Flash/Arrow crossover is bound to happen, reveals Inside Pulse.
