LeBron James is back with the Cleveland Cavaliers and will wear his former No. 23 jersey in his return. James was reportedly trying to chose between No.6 and No.23 for the number of his jersey. The King eventually decided to wear the number that he whore when he was still playing for the Cavaliers and announced his decision on Twitter and Instagram on Sunday.
James tweeted, "23 it is! It's only right I go back. 2 3(equals)6 We still family 6." The Tweet also featured an Instagram post which had photos of LeBron James exhibiting his No.23 Cleveland Cavaliers jersey on the 2003 NBA draft, along with the new alternative version of the Cav's jersey, and with his high school jersey for the Irish team which also had the No.23 on it.
LeBron James wore the No.6 Jersey in his entire 4 season career with the Miami Heat, which featured four consecutive trips to the NBA finals and back-to-back championships, and with the USA Men's Basketball Olympic National team. He wore the No.23 jersey, meanwhile, in his 7 year career with the Cleveland Cavaliers and in his high school days.
A week ago, LeBron went to Social Media to ask fans and friends for help on which number he should be wearing in the 2014-2015 NBA season with the Cavaliers. James posted "6 or 23...." on his Twitter account. Numerous fans and friends from Twitter responded with their thoughts on what jersey number the King ought to wear next season.
While James maybe returning to his former team with his former jersey number, he will be playing with a Cleveland Cavalier roster completely different from the one he played with four seasons ago before he decided to join the Miami Heat - only Anderson Varejao remains form the old team. The present Cavalier roster is undoubtedly more younger and more talented with three No.1 overall draft picks in Kyrie Irving, Anthony Bennett, and Andrew Wiggins.
So what does these all mean? Well nothing special really except that for those Cavaliers fans who resisted in the temptation of burning their old LeBron James jerseys, they won't have to spend on buying a new for the coming NBA season.
