Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) may come back in the latest season of "Homeland." This was suggested by showrunner Alex Gansa, who also dished to Entertainment Weekly about what fans would be expecting from the show after Brody's shocking departure from the show.
It could be recalled that in the previous season, we see Brody publicly hanged after he was betrayed by the show's Central Intelligence Agency as Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) watches in horror from the crowd. When Gansa was asked if there is a possibility that Brody will appear on the show through flashbacks, he answered, "I would always hold out the possibility that something like that could happen. He was such as significant part of Carrie's life that jst to drop himo completely would feel wrong, because Carrie is grieving for his loss."
Gansa was prodded further about Brody's potential appearance this season, of which he said to TVGuide, "Brody is physically dead, undoubtedly. [But he's] spiritually alive in the fact that Carrie has a child."
On the other hand, Ganza also said that despite the drama of seeing the father of her baby killed behind enemy lines and leaving her daughter in the US to fulfill her new role in the federal agency, he revealed that Carrie in the upcoming season is surprisingly stable.
Gansa told EW, "On managing her (bipolar) mental illness, she's quite stable. Where she is managing her grief about her loss of Brody is a different question."
Danes will be joined by "Life of Pi" actor Suraj Sharma, Zap2It reported. He will be playing a medical student in Pakistan who would either be an antagonist or protagonist to Carrie. Mandy Patinkin will remain in the series as Saul. Season 4 of "Homeland"will premiere on October 5 at 9pm ET on Showtime.
