Scarlett Johansson's "Black Widow" is an Avenger that usually gets short shrift. In the first "Avengers" film, she was outdone by nearly all the other cast members, which makes sense when she's a human with a gun and she's fighting along side men in robot suits and gargantuan green monsters.
But for the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron," Joss Whedon may be stepping Black Widow up to the forefront. JoBlo has a new scoop about the film's costumes, and one of the biggest details is that Black Widow is getting a massive upgrade.
Here's the latest on her new costume:
"Black Widow's costume update will feature not only the previously reported batons, but her suit is said to be more 'TRON-style' in nature with blue lights and electricity around the suit. Her enemies will now receive electric shocks or a 'widow's sting' when she hits them, giving her more of a 'superhero' edge amongst her super-powered counterparts."
Her shock gauntlets were first seen in "The Avengers" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," but now it seems like every time Black Widow connects with an enemy, they will be electrocuted. This new outfit may also be the one seen in previous Comic-Con art, which can be viewed above.
JoBlo also speculates that this upgrade may be the first step towards a Black Widow powerful enough to carry her own solo film- something that Johansson would be more than happy to do, according to an interview she did with Screen Rant.
"If the audience wants something like that and we could really, you know, carve out a great story for her that's a continuation of what we already know, then I'd be totally for it. I mean, she's definitely got -the material is there, you know, and I'm, you know, I'm always willing to slip the suit back on and power through it, you know, if people want to see it."
Kevin Feige said something very similar in an interview with Coming Soon.
"We've got various outlines and ideas of where to take that. As Scarlett already said, there's a big element that explores her back story in an upcoming Marvel feature. The question really is, 'When will we take her out of the ensemble and have her do her own thing?' As you saw in ['Captain America: The Winter Soldier'], as you'll see in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' she's really the key to so much of the plot development."
It's really starting to sound like a "Black Widow" movie is in the works, isn't it? Check back soon for the latest info on this potential solo "Avengers" film.
