Robin Thicke tops the album flops list with album; ‘Blurred Lines' singer accepts failed marriage as he and Paula Patton heads for divorce

The Los Angeles Times recently declared "Paula" as the number one album flop so far this year. According to the paper, Robin Thicke's musical effort in the efforts of getting back with his estranged wife have failed to capture the sympathy of his fans, as it only debuted a mere 25,000 copies sold in the US.

The paper wrote, "An album dedicated to your estranged wife sounds like a promising idea. Except when the record turns out to be a creepy, hastily crafted mea culpa like this one. From begging for his actress wife to take him back during every performance to teaming with 1-800-Flowers for branded bouquets, Thicke's follow-up to the massive "Blurred Lines" went down in flames."

This somehow purportedly became a signal for the singer-songwriter to abandon all hopes of winning his wife back, and the two are now heading to divorce, according to reports.

TMZ reported that the couple decided to sell their 3,158-square-foot L.A. mansion for about $3 million. Moreover, the gossip news site cited sources, who said that an attorney has been tapped to work on a financial settlement and separate their assets.

Caroline Presno for the Huffington Post interviewed Alan Thicke, Robin's father, who shared to the reporter about his advice to his son during his marriage troubles with Patton. He said, "My advice to Robin is listen to your heart, do what you feel. Follow your heart in love and marriage as you would in careers and you'll be fine. Robin has a great heart. He's a fabulous father. He obviously followed his heart in creating and devoting an entire album to Paula and I believe you can't go wrong that way."

Jason Derulo, who had met with Thicke in the course of their commitments, defended the singer's decision to release an album dedicated to his estranged wife. The "Talk Dirty" singer told E! News, "I think when somebody's desperate, they're desperate. I can't knock him for trying. He's trying everything to get his girl back, so I can't knock him for that...I talked to him personally, and we're not necessarily like the best of friends or anything, but you know, he mentioned something about that. So you can tell when somebody is in dire need of having that special person back. And I think that's all it is."
