"Hawaii Five-0" Season 5 will premiere next month and we have all the spoilers ahead of the show's return to the small screen.
According to an Enstarz report, Michelle Borth, who plays Catherin Rollins, will no longer return in the upcoming season. Borth, whose character is seen in the previous episode leaving for Aghanistan, has left Steve McGarett (Alex O'Loughlin) devastated with the separation. McGarrett's longtime girlfriend chose to stay in Afghanistan in the previous season's episode "Makani ʻOlu a Holo Mālie," which translates to "Fair Winds and Following Seas."
On the other hand, it has been said that the "Five-0"'s leader will be having a hard time this season, but might have someone on the rebound to cheer him up. The show's executive producer, Peter Lenkov, discussed what the character will be going through in the upcoming season.
Talking to TV Guide, he said, "He's taking it hard. There's still this mourning period, because even though they didn't break up... she chose to stay behind in Afghanistan, and that actually hurts. So it's definitely on his mind."
It has been suggested that McGarrett's new love interest has a connection to his father. Lenkov divulged, "After [John] (William Sadler) died, this woman, on the anniversary of his death, always shows up at his grave to basically thank him for everything he had done."
However, the name of the actress portraying the new character was not mentioned nor whether she will replace Borth in the show.
Lenkov also shared that a lot of revelations regarding McGarett's identity will happen in the new season. In an interview, he said, "If there are any lingering questions for people who have been loyally watching the show from the beginning, they're all going to be answered in the 100th espisode."
The 100th episode, which is titled "If, Perhaps," is the new season's seventh episode. According to Lenkov, it will answer questions such as "Are Steve and Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos) related?'
"Hawaii Five-0" Season 5 will premiere on Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
