Details on the upcoming "Terminator" sequel, entitled "Terminator Genisys" (a recent update from a previous title, which was the much more correctly-spelled "Terminator Genesis"), have been scarce lately, which seems surprising, given that the film is less than a year away from hitting theaters.
But Skydance Productions, the company backing the movie, has just revealed an important plot point via Twitter.
Recently, a conversation on Twitter flamed up about the potential plot of "Terminator Genisys," and whether it would be a straight sequel to the previous films or some kind of a reboot. Fans, naturally, are leaning towards the sequel route, as the original two "Terminator" films, directed by James Cameron, are classics, and do not need to be painted over with a similar film.
Skydance Productions, it seems, agrees with that train of thought. Here's what the company tweeted in regards to "Terminator Genisys" being a reboot.
"@ilikefights @TerminatorFans @Terminator @ParamountPics We agree! None of Cameron's original story needs to be retold. That's not the goal."
That confirms it (given that this is info from an official studio)- "Terminator Genisys" is not a reboot.
This also confirms recent rumors from Enstars, that claimed the film would not be a reboot. It seems they were right on the money.
As well, Deadline has new plot details for the film, claiming that protagonists Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese will spend a little time in jail. According to their sources, Sandrine Holt has just been cast in a role, described as "Detective Cheung, who arrests Kyle and Sarah when they arrive in 2017."
