Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update comes to Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo handsets in India, now available OTA through Samsung Kies

Owners of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo can expect their Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update over the air soon, as it has allegedly started rolling out in India. This was following a leaked update schedule of certain Samsung smartphones last month.

According to NDTV, SM-N750 handsets in India have already started receiving the update after the smartphone was initially released in February stocked with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. However, Android Geeks consider the update "late." According to Android Geeks, "This firmware launch comes rather late as Samsung already made available the same update in Korea for a while now."

The 4.4.2 update with build number N750XXUCNG6 has reportedly started rolling out over the air through Samsung Kies. Phone users can also check for the update manually by going to Note 3 Neo's Settings > About Phone > Software Update. IB Times also shares that the update can be received by downloading through SamMobile. According to SamMobile, users can expect the new update to give faster performance and improved battery life to Note 3 Neo. Wireless printing support has allegedly been added as well. The update is 495MB in size, states GSM Arena.

The update also includes changes in the lock screen, which now has a camera shortcut and displays album art when the music player is in use, NDTV further states. "The status bar strip which contains icons like battery, is now coloured white, while notifications drawer icons have changed as well," adds the article.

NDTV's article also mentioned a leaked document including scheduled Samsung smartphone updates last month. The five handsets in the document were Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Mega 5.8, Galaxy Grand 2 Duos, Galaxy Mega 6.3, and Galaxy Note 3 Neo. The document allegedly confirms that testing of the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update on these five devices was already finished.

Those with rooted phones wanting to update their Galaxy Note 3 Neo but does not have the official firmware released on their country yet can install the update through Odin, says IB Times.
