Marvel's made it official that they want a third "Thor" film to hit theaters, and star Chris Hemsworth. Like the other major Marvel heroes- Iron Man and Captain America- each hero will be getting three solo films and three "Avengers" films on their current contract.
The only thing we don't know about "Thor 3" is the story. What villains will Thor (and maybe Loki, because Loki usually sticks around whenever Thor is involved) fight in his third solo film outing?
According to those online, there's only one possible option: Surtur. Surtur, based on the Norse mythological fire giant, is a demonic being that's plague Thor in the comics world for years.
Everyone's talking about Surtur- and, by extension, Ragnarok, the end of the world scenario that usually comes into play whenever Surtur is around.
Even Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, is mentioning Ragnarok, like in an interview with MovieWeb.
"I think there are very interesting things that happen. In the mythology, when you get into Ragnarok, which is the "end of all things", it's not the end of the world...It's the end of time, and the universe, and space. And I think, if I am correct...Loki essentially, sets that in motion. And his motivation for doing so is intriguing and he almost becomes the incarnation of chaos, in a way...So I think that can be quite new."
As well, according to KpopStarz, Ragnarok is the number one potential storyline in the eyes of the fans. They've got the fan site God of MIschief speculating that Ragnarok will be involved with "Thor 3" in one way or another, even if Marvel hasn't said anything official, yet.
Breathecast does offer a lone dissenting opinion, claiming that "Thor 3" will involve Loki trying to take over Asgard (which was hinted at in "Thor: The Dark World"- remember what happened to Odin?), but it's probably more likely that Ragnarok will be the main storyline. If there's only one Thor movie left, there's only one storyline Marvel should really be tackling.
