Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre was packed with stars as the 2014 Emmy Awards was held on Monday, August 25, to honor the talents in television with Seth Meyers as host. The winners are in for some categories, with Jim Parsons and Julia Louis-Dreyfus winning in the same category they won last year.
The night's presenters included Sofia Vergara, Halle Berry, Matthew McConaughey, and Jimmy Fallon, says Us Weekly, which also stated that "Game of Thrones" from HBO led the pack with a total of 19 nominations for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards. Peter Dinklage was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. "Fargo" and "Breaking Bad" also received several nominations. Kerry Washington from "Scandal," Kevin Spacey from "House of Cards," Jim Parsons from "The Big Bang Theory," and Amy Poehler from "Parks and Recreations" were top nominees.
According to Mashable, Julia Louis-Dreyfus won Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for "Veep." Louis-Dreyfus, who received a kiss off-stage from "Breaking Bad's" Bryan Cranston, has won the 2014 award for the third year in a row. Louis-Dreyfus was joined onstage by Cranston to present Jim Parsons' Emmy award. Parsons from CBS' "The Big Bang Theory" is the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series again after winning last year. Meanwhile, Allison Janney from "Mom" is the winner of Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, while Ty Burrell from "Modern Family" has won Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
Mashable's list also includes best Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie winner Benedict Cumberbatch for "Sherlock: His Last Vow." Cumberbatch is joined by his co-star on the list of winners after receiving Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie. "Sherlock: His Last Vow" also has Steven Moffat winning for the category Writing for a Mniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special, reports Nola.
Furthermore, FX's "American Horror Story: Coven" has Jessica Lange bagging the Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie. Kathy Bates, also from "American Horror Story: Coven," has earned Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie, besting two other nominees from the same show.
Directing in a Comedy Series goes to Gail Mancuso for "Modern Family" for the episode "Vegas," adds Mashable. Louis C.K is the winner of Writing in a Comedy Series for "So Did The Fat Lady" from "Louie," while "The Amazing Race" has won Reality Competition.
