'Orange Is The New Black' fails to bag a single Emmy Award; Show filming for Season 3

Netflix's hit comedy series "Orange Is The New Black" failed to receive even a single award during the 2014 Emmy Awards. According to Variety, the network's top contender in bagging most of the awards during the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, which was held at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, lost to tough competitors. The shows who were also nominated and won included HBO's "Veep" and "Silicon Valley," FX's "Louie," and CBS's "The Big Bang Theory" and "Modern Family."

The highly-anticipated non-fiction TV show based on Piper Kerman's prison life lost in all 12 categories that were announced early this July. "OITNB" failed to grab the "Outstanding Comedy Series," which is one of the major awards, from ABC's Modern Family, who is on its 5th straight year of winning the same award. In addition, the show's main lead star Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper Chapman, lost the "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series" to Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who plays US Vice President Selina Meyer for HBO's "Veep." Dreyfus also won the same award last year, Enstarz said, citing reports.

Kate Mulgrow, who portrays the Galina "Red" Reznikow, didn't manage to win the award for "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series" as Allison Janney as Bonnie Plunkett for CBS sitcom "Mom," won the award.

Even the Golden Globe and Academy Awards-winning director Jodie Foster had failed to bag the "Outstanding Directing for Comedy Series" award. Foster directed "OINTB"'s "Lesbian Request Denied" episode. The actress lost to Gail Mancuso, who directed "Modern Family"'s "Las Vegas" episode. Macuso, last year, won the same title for Modern Family's "Arrested" episode.

Meanwhile, "OINTB"'s head writers Jenji Kohan and Liz Friedman, who were nominated for "Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series" for their "I Wasn't Ready" episode, were left to applaud for Louis C.K's "So Did the Fat Lady" episode for the FX series' "Louie."

The 2014 Emmys might not just be the best night for the show, as they previously won three awards at the 2014 Creative Arts Ceremony recently.

Meanwhile, production for the "Orange Is The New Black's" is already in full swing for the series' third season, Buzzfeed reported. Judging from the social media snaps shared by cast members including those of Jessica Pimentel, Selenis Leyva, and Dasha Polanco among the few, the show promises to have an equally compelling and explosive series ahead.
