There is no doubt that we will all be seeing Robert Downey Jr. play the beloved Iron Man for the next installment of the "Avengers" franchise. However, there has been talk that for the fourth movie of the "Iron Man" franchise might not only say goodbye to good 'ol Tony Stark. Air Herald recounted one of Downey's recent interviews about the potential film wherein he discussed that no matter how much movie executives prefer him over other actors to play Stark/Iron Man, it could not be denied that he is not getting any younger, might become detrimental for his portrayal. Would this reasoning goes the same with Paltrow too?
When Marvel somewhat released their cinematic universe calendar that could potentially be the date for "Iron Man 4," Yahoo UK said, fans are all wondering who would be the the next stars who would fill the roles of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts nicely. Christian Today cited a list by Moviepilot, which suggested that even real-life sweet hearts Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling could play Iron Man and his love interest. "Spider Man" franchise cast member Emma Stone and eclectic actor James Franco are also being seen as a potential pairing for the continuation of the "Iron Man" franchise. Collin Farrell and Olga Kurylenko were also considered for the roles as well, given the fact that they both have experience in action films to speak of.
As fans have to wait for 2 more "Avengers" movies and roughly 5 more years until "Iron Man 4" is released, there have already been speculations as to what will happen in the story line of the movie, particularly between Potts and Stark. Enstarz reported that there is a huge probability that Pepper and Tony would break up in "Iron Man 4." This comes as no surprise, considering that in the upcoming "Avengers 2" movie, Stark Industries is found to be the very entity who created Ultron, a highly-intelligent defense robot invented by Stark that almost wipes out the entire planet. Potts as president of Stark Enterprises left to deal cleaning up her boyfriend's mess might be the very straw that would break the camel's back.
