‘James Bond: 24’ slated for release November 2015; ‘Skyfall’ director Sam Mendes to return to directing duties; Lana Del Ray considered as one of the top choices to sing the film’s theme song

Fans of the highly anticipated "James Bond" movie might see its 24th installment on November 6, 2015, IDigital Times reports. The last James Bond movie entitled "Skyfall" was released last October 2012. According to the website, the movie is currently underway and filming will start later this year.

Daniel Craig is reportedly assuming the iconic role in the movie together with other cast members of the previous Bond movies. Ralph Fiennes will reprise his role, while Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris were also confirmed to be part of the upcoming action film.

It was reported by Screen Rant that the movie was originally slated for release in late 2014. However, director Sam Mendes has been committed to various projects that is why was not able to work an earlier production.

The movie's producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli reportedly spent months contemplating on whether they should tap other directors. But the two later chose to move the production and filming schedule and wait until the director is done with his line of projects.

After clearing his schedule, Mendes announced that he will be returning to direct the highly anticipated Bond movie. His official statement posted by Screen Rant reads, "I am pleased that by giving me time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct 'Bond 24'. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again...for a second time."

In another article by Screen Rant, it was suggested that Oscar-winning actress Penelope Cruz might be added to the cast as the next Bond girl. However, the producers have not made any confirmations yet as to whether Cruz will star in the upcoming movie.

Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey is rumored to be one of those who are considered to record the official song for "James Bond: 24." In a report by The Sun, the American singer-songwriter is now considered to do the theme.

"Producers know it has to be a great song with a killer vocal to rival the phenomenal success of Adele's 'Skyfall'" a source told The Sun.

Previously, up-and-coming artist Sam Smith was also said to be part of the top choices to sing the movie's theme song. According to the report, Smith is on top of the list with Del Rey behind. Smith, however, denied reports that claimed he was already in final talks to record the theme.
