'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season two premieres September 23; New promo video shows Skye as full-fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. agent

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will return for its second season this September, but even before that, fans are already treated to a preview and a teaser trailer for the series. Things will continue from season one, but big changes are in store for the team.

According to MTV, with S.H.I.E.L.D. officially destroyed, the remaining loyal agents will be functioning in secret and without the assistance of the government. "It's easier said than done, considering the public now thinks of SHIELD as foes, not friends," says the article.

This is not the last of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents' problems, however. Christian Post recalls the newly released promotional video for the second season to have a darker theme, with Coulson voicing over and saying: "The enemy has the advantage. But we have to fight on for those we've lost, so the sacrifices they made were not made in vain. We disappear, become ghosts. That's how we have to live now-in the shadows, to protect the innocent. To save lives, even when they don't know it."

Christian Post's article also says that the team of agents may be battling old enemies alongside new ones.

Aside from the season two footage, another promotional teaser has also been released, this time of season one's deleted scenes. Comic Book said that the clip included "wit, character and charm, and even great visual storytelling."

According to IB Times, season two will pick up where season one ended. "With Phil Coulson drawing cryptic etchings, Leo Fitz in a coma and Grant Ward in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody after it was revealed that he was a double agent for Hydra." A preview also showed a big change in Skye as the hacker becomes a full-fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

To tie in with "Guardians of the Galaxy," MTV thinks that the alien writings on the wall will be a focal point in the show's second season as the article assumes that "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will be delving into the "cosmic side of the Marvel Universe." The team will also be joined by another member, Lance Hunter, a series regular who will be played by Nick Blood, shares IB Times.

Tune in to ABC to catch "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." back on television on September 23.
