There are rumors that the upcoming sequels of the box office hit "Avatar" are already underway, but fans know very little about the James Cameron movie. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actress Zoe Saldana, revealed that like the fans, she is clueless about the "Avatar" sequels.
When asked about what the actress can share about "Avatar 2" and the other upcoming sequels, Saldana answered, "I wish I knew! I've been told by Jim [Cameron] that it'll be about an overall spiritual journey, but I don't have a script."
The actress, who is also starring in the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy," also compared her roles in her two upcoming films. Her characters in "Avatar" and "GOTG" have blue and green complexion, respectively.
"This time it was actual makeup," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "Avatar was motion-capture, so everything was done in post. But Guardians was the way it's normally done. You get picked up at 3:30 in the morning and spend 4½ hours getting things glued and spray-painted on to your face."
Saldana was also vocal about why she likes to do "Avatar" better. "Working in the volume, doing performance-capture. Because you don't have to worry about what you're going to look like. That gets added later. You just play the character," she explained.
According to a report by Hallels, "Avatar 2" will be filmed in Los Angeles, which s convenient for Saldana as she lives in the region. James Cameron is still in the process of writing the second and third scripts, which are reportedly featuring a three-story arc.
The same article also claimed that the upcoming sequels will focus on parts of the fictional planet "Pandora" that were not featured in the first movie.
Meanwhile, Christian Post hinted that the upcoming sequels might also feature life forms other than the Na'vi.
Other than Saldana will reprise her role as Neytiri, Sam Worthington will also come back as Jake Sully. Other actors who are reportedly returning in the upcoming "Avatar" movie include Stephan Lang, Sigourney Weaver, and Giovani Ribisi.
"Avatar 2" is reportedly hitting theaters in December 2016.
