U2 Tour not far behind after new album release during Apple Launch event on Tuesday

Rock band icon U2 released a surprising album after five long years on the Apple event on Tuesday.

The sensational Bono and the group, who have been prominent on the music industry for almost 40 years, unveiled their newest album 'Songs of Innocence' in the Apple launch event held in California this Tuesday.

Lead singer Bono explained how the new single is a great part of their journey, as reported on Telegraph. "The most personal album we've written could be shared with half a billion people - by hitting send. If only songwriting was that easy," he begins.

"It's exciting and humbling to think that people who don't know U2 or listen to rock music for that matter might check us out. Working with Apple is always a blast. They only want to do things that haven't been done before - that's a thrill to be part of."

Apple's CEO Tim Cook announced that the album is free for billions of iTunes users worldwide until October 13. "Music runs deep in Apple's DNA; it runs through the core of all of our product," Cook begins, "and iTunes has been at the center of that experience." Mashable reports, citing source.

"It makes music history because it's the largest album release of all time," the CEO concludes.

With the successful sales of their previous albums including 'No Line on the Horizon' on 2009, 'How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb', which was released on 2004 and sold 1.25 million copies, and 'All That You Can't Leave Behind', which sold 1.15 million, the band's newest album would hit the peak, nonetheless, according to The Guardian.

During the same event, meanwhile, the highly anticipated and latest smartphone, iPhone 6, and the smartwatch, were launched.

However, fans may be looking forward on what is next for the Irish rock band, as they could be planning to have their tour anytime soon. Though no reports have concluded a U2 tour, there would always be open possibilities. Stay tuned for more U2 news and updates.
