Filming for "Pitch Perfect 2" is complete! Now, star-turned-director Elizabeth Banks is currently editing the film, and getting everything ready for its May 15, 2015 release date.
CBS recently spoke to Banks about going accapella crazy when directing the new film- here's what she told them:
"It's very exciting -- and harrowing, and nerve-wracking," said Banks. "I really want to put out a great movie that fans love."
"I loved working with all the collaborators, from the actors to the screenwriters to the set designer to the [director of photography] -- all across the board I just had amazing partners, and it was that collaborative process that was very gratifying. And I liked being the boss!"
Banks didn't have a huge part in the first "Pitch Perfect"- just one of the commentators at the ICCAs (International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, just in case you were unaware). But now that she's directing, she's a huge presence in "Pitch Perfect 2."
USA Today clarifies, though, that Banks will still be the sassy competition judge in the second film- she'll just be working behind the scenes as well. And apparently, she can get kind of nuts as a director- in a good way. Here's what star Anna Kendrick said about Banks as a director:
"It was crazy because sometimes we'd see her walking around in her 'Gail' hair, her beehive, but still her Wellington boots and her hoodie (on) getting ready for a scene she had to shoot later. You'd be like, 'What drag queen just walked on the set?' Oh hey, she's just in 'Gail mode.' "
Celebuzz adds something pretty cool- Banks is heading up a Crash the Superbowl camptain, which will allow amateur filmmakers to submit Superbowl ads, with one winner having his or her ad play during the actual game!
Maybe whoever wins can get in touch with Banks, as both of them launch forward in their directing careers.
