Listen, it's no secret: the past few "Terminator" films haven't been particularly good. "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" was kind of a half-baked sequel, and didn't do much besides rehash "Terminator 2" and throw in a few robot apocalypse elements. And "Terminator Salvation" barely felt like a "Terminator" movie at all (not having any Arnold Schwarzenegger definitely didn't help).
But Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Austrian Oak himself, has come forward and told fans not to worry: the fifth film, "Terminator Genisys" (previously spelled "Terminator Genesis," but now changed) will be the classic "Terminator" film fans have been waiting for.
Here's what the actor said on his Twitter account:
"Hasta la vista, baby. Thx to cast & crew. Can't wait to remind fans why they fell in love with @Terminator on 7/1/15."
He also linked to his Instagram page, where he elaborated with a slightly longer message:
"Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of @TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup - we couldn't have done it without you. I can't wait to see our finished project and I know we'll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I'll be back."
Schwarzenegger also posted the image seen above.
Now, he doesn't explicitly state that the last few "Terminators" haven't lived up to our expecations, but "remind the fans why they fell in love" is pretty clear. You wouldn't have to remind fans that "Terminator" is a classic unless there were a few bad movies tarnishing its reputation.
Hopefully, we'll be seeing the first footage from "Terminator Genisys" soon- according to International Business Times, the first trailer for the film should be dropping very shortly.
