Rumors have been spreading all over the internet that CM Punk is returning to the WWE soon after he walked out of the franchise last January.
The possibility of CM Punk's return are seen by others as a promotional campaign for Sting's (Steve Borden) WWE debut, with Punk speculated by fans to take on the role of "party crasher" on the debut episode, according to a report by Kpopstarz.
With reports pointing to a match between Punk and Sting to welcome both professional wrestlers, according to Christian Today, Punk's possible appearance on the Sting debut is already causing rumors, fueled by anticipation, to spread like wildfire.
However, there is nothing to substantiate the truth to these rumors.
Phillip Jack Brooks , aka CM Punk, had many disagreements with WWE chairman Vince McMahon in the past and it appears that a small addition to the already burdensome relationship rendered Punk's association with the promotion too much too bear. Punk departed after telling Vince McMahon that he was "going home", reported Pro Wrestling Torch.
Punk did not appear on the January 27, 2014 Monday Night Raw and on the SmackDown taping Tuesday even though he was advertised for the event, added the Pro Wrestling Torch report. Come Wednesday, WWE.com stopped advertising Punk for future events.
Punk's contract with the WWE expired in July. WWE moved Punk from the active roster to the alumni page on July 15, without releasing a statement. On that same day, without mentioning WWE, Punk thanked his fans. By late July, Punk announced that he was "never ever" going to return to wrestling, Christian Post reported.
But the likelihood of CM Punk's return is still pretty much there, with his fans keeping hope springing eternal. And besides, in this professional wrestling promotion which is purely entertainment-based, featuring storyline-driven, scripted and choreographed matches, the wrestlers' penchant for announcing retirement only to come back in the foreseeable future is a given.
